More Photos

We’ve had a great weather this weekend, and my mother and I decided to celebrate with a trip to Grib Skov about 40 minutes by train North of Copenhagen. Directly translated, Grib Skov means Vulture Forest, but it’s a lot nicer than it sounds, even though they once found a dead body in the Grib lake. Since this trip was on bike, I didn’t take a lot of pictures, but here are the five photos that turned out well. You even get a bonus picture of one of the finest castles in the country if you make it past the first four pictures. I don’t fancy myself any kind of photo-artist, which is why I elect to photograph scenes that are beautiful in their own right.

Coniferous forests are so different from other kinds of vegetation, they hold a kind of mystique that can almost make you believe in fairy tales of trolls and elves. Not to mention the rays from the sun play beautifully on the forest bed on clear days.

It would almost be disappointing to walk through a forest like this and not meet some sort of magical creature. When you’ve lived in the city all your life, it’s difficult to believe in that kind of supersticion, but being in a place like this can almost change that for a moment. It’s probably the moss.

I’m sure any Freudian could extract some very interesting interpretations from a photo such as this one.

And given that there are two pictures like this and that my last photo series also contained a couple of views down forest paths, maybe these pictures are expressions of my anal fascination or somesuch?

And here’s Frederiksborg castle, built by Frederik the sixth, accidentally burned down by Frederik the seventh, and then rebuilt soon afterwards. The smaller structure on the left is the church of the castle, which was saved from the raging flames. The picture was taken as we passed the castle on our way back from the forest.
