Purchase of the week

Posted in Games, Music at 15:22 by Jonas

I invited myself to spend some money today. The first object I bought was the latest album from Foo Fighters, In Your Honor. I’m listening to DOA right now, and though I’ve heard it many times before on the radio, it seems to sound a lot better now that I have paid for it. A strange psychological mechanism perhaps, but one I happen to appreciate - this way you don’t feel that your money are wasted. And of course the really awesome thing about this album is that you get two CD’s for the price of one! As they say on the cover, “One loud. One not so loud.”

The second purchase I made is Half-Life 2. You have no idea how many times I’ve recieved the “O_o” treatment when telling people I did not own Half-Life 2. It’s like the damn game is Gamer Canon - if it’s not part of your game collection, you may not consider yourself a computer games enthusiast. A reaction I would not have been surprised to get, but from which I was mercifully spared by some strange coincidence, is “but how could you possibly expect to get a job in game development if you don’t own Half-Life 2!?”

If you’re wondering why I didn’t buy it before, the reason is very simple. I got it now mainly for the ability to play some of the DAZZLINGLY plentiful modifications for the game. These modifications have only just begun to be released, and now I got the game for a mere 99 kr., less than a third of the price it cost when it was brand new. I’m not very interested in the game itself, being that I am a pansy who does not appreciate getting my pants scared off my ass. I played the game at a friend’s, but only up to the point where people started dropping Headcrabs on me, then I knew it was time to back out while my dignity was intact. Now that I have the game, I do plan to play it as long as my nerves can take me, but to give the poor quivering fellows a break, I’m gonna cheat. In fact I’m gonna cheat as much as humanly possible. And there’s nothing you can do to stop me!
