Losing wits and money
Bah, I bought a new CD yesterday. After my meeting at the Planetarium, I called my mum at 11 am to hear if she wanted to go out for lunch. Unfortunately she’d had breakfast an hour before, so she suggested I pick her up at noon. This left me with an hour’s time to kill, so I took a walk down Strøget, the central shopping street of Copenhagen. On the way, I first dropped into EB Games, which had no interesting games except Fahrenheit which I plan to buy when the price has dropped a bit, and then the music section of Fona 2000. I found no less than three albums I wanted to hear: Ten Thousand Fists by Disturbed, Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Vol 1: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness by Coheed & Cambria (good lord, what were they thinking when they came up with that title!), and Dark Light by His Infernal Majesty.
Coheed & Cambria is probably the band which lies the closest to my usual style, falling into the same category as Dream Theater, but I knew I would need more than one listen of their songs to really figure out if it’s a good album or not. The HIM album interested me because I like their single Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly, but the whole gothic mascara-ness of their style embarasses me a bit, so in the end, I took Disturbed to the listening station. It’s a great record, I already knew the songs Stricken and Guarded from the radio, but the title track and the two songs Sons of Plunder and Overburdened catched my interest as well, and I was rather amused to find a surprisingly heavy cover of the awfully clean-cut and overproduced 80ies hit Land of Confusion on the CD. So I bought it, in spite of still not having grown tired of the two other CD’s I’ve bought in the last 30 days or so: Contraband and In Your Honour. I guess I have a lot of listening to do!
Unfortunately I’ve now run out of space in my CD rack, so now I must go out and buy a new one XD
On a random side note, I had a really weird dream tonight. I dreamt I was in the Hvidovre town hall along with Pia Kjærsgård and Louise Frevert (two members of parliament who most of you lucky bastards have probably never heard of, not being Danes). I was dragging this kid around on a luggage cart and I guess I was there to drop him off or something, but then his parents found us and took him away without any further ado. Then I went home, but on the way I met up with two thugs who were apparently my friends, and we tried to rob a couple of houses on the way. We were caught by the cops both times, but luckily I could just load a previous save-game (which is why I think it was a weird dream). Not the strangest dream I’ve had, but I can tell you I was pretty bewildered when I woke up.
