From Sweden with love (and horrible toothache)

Stockholm rox.

I ain’t kidding either. The Greenpeace office is in Gamla Stan (old town), it’s like taking the most awesome parts of Copenhagen, multiplying by 10, and then dropping it in a rocky landscape surrounding a large bay. As a guy who’s lived all his life in a country which is basically a sedimentary basin made up of all the crap that’s washed down from Sweden and Norway for the past several billions of years, and where the tallest point is “Yddinge Skovhøj” with its dazzling 177 meters, I’m really hyped to see cliffs in the middle of the city.

I would like to attach a batch of pictures, but firstly I haven’t really gone photographing yet (I plan to do that today), and secondly I left my camera’s docking station at home, so I can’t connect it to my laptop. You’ll have to wait until I get home to see for yourself just how awesome Stockholm really is (or uh… take a look at some of the millions of other pictures of the city which are bound to be available on the Internet… but that’d be cheating!)

The people here at Greenpeace are all really cool and very understanding when I only pick up about a third of what they say to me (curse you, language barrier! CURSE YOU!) Of course all of them know English, but it seems a little odd to speak in English to somebody whose native language is basically a variant of your own. And vice versa.

But the accomodations are… suboptimal. I have this foldable bed on which I sleep in one of their small meeting rooms / offices, but each morning I must fold it together and put it away along with all my other stuff so they can use that room. Then I get to set it up again in the evening. And there is no real bathroom, only a shower next to the toilet. Suboptimal, to say the least.

But at least they have broadband.

Oh yeah, and then my teeth hurt like Hell. In the upper left side, a wisdom tooth is making its presence known, and in the lower right side, I have some kind of sore on the inside of my cheek. I think I’ve had it before, it’s some sort of infection, it hurts like Hell, and it takes weeks to get rid of. Excellent timing, health. Excellent timing.
