The balance of life is maintained
Fate seems intent to balance out my happiness with equal amounts of pain and inconvenience lately. It’s no secret that it’s winter up here, and thus rather cold. I was, however, under the impression that the snow was melting and that the streets were thus clear of ice. I was wrong, as a 90 degree bend in the road was eager to point out on my way home yesterday. After a rather nasty fall at full velocity, I have now learned that when there is snow and darkness, one is well advised to move at a slow speed. Luckily, ice is good at preventing nasty injuries, as you mostly just slide a bit after falling. Still, my bike weighs a lot when it lands on you.
But this rather horrible but at least short-lived pain was quickly quenched as I arrived home (to a cup of hot chocolate… mmmm) to find that Fable and Age of Empires 3 had arrived! I quickly installed Fable and stayed up until 2 am playing it. Hilariously fun game, I shall bore you with all my thoughts about it when I’ve completed it.
Today, this pattern was repeated on a slightly lower scale as my mother mailed me to tell me that she’s gotten me on the guest list for a concert with Disturbed on February 12 (a good thing), which was then followed by a bunch of minor injuries throughout the day - mostly stuff bumping against the marks I got from my crash yesterday - ending with a flat tire on my bike (a bad thing).
All in all, I’m extremely happy and only slightly injured, so all is well. And I notice my computer is done installing Age of Empires 3. I’ll see you in 2007!
