Annual birthday report
So today is my birthday. Got another 2 hours left, but I figure nothing substantial is likely to happen in the intervening period, so an evaluation of the day would be in order. First off, I gotta say hands down: The weidest thing about birthdays is getting a bunch of automated congratulation e-mail from Internet fora I’ve barely set foot on. Such as the Atari Europe forums, on which I’ve made not a single post ever and barely even realized existed, which even upped the weirdness-factor by sending me a mail in Danish! But hey, at least my ‘gratz from real living people outnumbered my automated congratulation mail by far.
Here’s the mandatory list of material goods added to the stash this year:
- A spare battery for my still pretty new laptop.
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for the NDS.
- Mer de Noms by A Perfect Circle.
- Donnie Darko director’s cut.
- Half-Real by Jesper Juul (it’s a book).
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl - okay so I bought this for myself, but still!
- 10 dollars donated to TNM by EER! Pwnage.
Celebration today consisted of getting up way too early to unwrap presents, then deciding to skip today’s Film History lecture to get some more sleep. Then getting up again around 10-ish, having another go at breakfast, and then going to work where I pretty much slacked for 5 hours and then panicked when I realized I had half an hour left to do half a day’s work. Then I met up with the parents, had dinner at a restaurant, and now I’m listening to Mer de Noms! Sounds good so far.
I borrowed Puzzle Quest from former-high-school-buddy-turned-colleague Casper today, and tried it out for about 15 minutes until my DS ran out of battery power. It seemed like an insanely entertaining game, so I’m planning to order it from Play as soon as they get it back in stock (popular game, I guess). Since I didn’t get Hitman 4: Blood Money for my birthday, I’m downloading it via Steam in a moment, because it’s on my list of games I should play as part of my continuing self-education in game design (they seem pretty reluctant to teach me about it at uni, I guess I have to teach myself, eh?). I’m pretty happy I didn’t get Blood Money today though, it’s slightly cheaper via Steam.

Holy shit, I just read the birthday greeting from the TTLG forums. This is the best robot-generated mail ever!
“Hello Jonas Wæver, TTLG’s fantastic server would like to wish you a happy birthday, but it is a machine, so it can’t. Instead you’ll have to settle for this automated birthday email.
Happy Birthday!
>From the TTLG Server”

I strongly recommend watching Donnie Darko with directors comments
