ModDB Previews TNM

In the unlikely event that you read this blog but don’t check the TNM site, ModDB’s preview feature of The Nameless Mod has just gone up. It’s fairly positive.

We sent two of the ModDB guys physical copies of the Beta 2.0.0 build a month or so ago, and like most of our testers, Dave took about 15 hours to complete his first playthrough (he went with the good guys – most players do on their first time through the game). He’s been praising the mod in the last couple of ModDB “modcasts” as well, and he’s been keeping us updated as he played the game, so we knew he liked it.

Hopefully this is just the first of much media praise we’ll be getting. Of course we didn’t make this mod for the kudos, but that doesn’t mean we don’t get a kick out of all the positive feedback. It remains to be seen how we’ll react when the inevitable negative opinions surface post-release, but thankfully Larry is dauntlessly diplomatic, so I plan to have him deal with any comments that might raise my temper.

As a final note, I’m quite happy we pushed the release by a month. On the bug tracker, we’ve mostly been dealing with tiny nits and tweaks for the past couple of weeks, which is an indication that all the major bugs in the mod have been fixed. Everything we do now is polish, and it feels incredibly good to be able to spend this extra time to deliver a really solid game, the way you’d expect from Valve or Blizzard.

More news as it occurs, and possibly a new photo dump tomorrow.
