I finished Skyrim a long time ago, but I never got around to writing about it. I enjoyed it a lot, but it just seemed like there was too much to say and too little that nobody else had already said better, elsewhere. Now that I’ve put some time between myself and my last Skyrim playthrough, I remember the game mostly for its surprisingly solid stealth and its fantastically beautiful world. Even though Skyrim is really just your typical super-clichéd high fantasy with a forgettable storyline, it’s completely salvaged by having been transplanted into a northern setting of harsh blizzards, imposing mountains, beautiful fjords, polar ice seas, and viking architecture. An very convincing hybrid of Norway, Iceland, and Sweden. Tonight, I dug out my favourite screenshots from the game. These are they.
