It’s mainly about games. Game design, game writing, game scripting, game modding, game studies, game art, game news, game politics, game testing, game communities, and of course… game playing.
It’s also about photography, university, cats, books, films, music, vikings, linguistics, and culture at large, plus whatever else strikes my fancy hard enough to make me write about it here.
But it’s mainly about games.
My name, as is unmodestly advertised at the top of this site, is Jonas Wæver. I nominally live in Denmark, but in practice I live on the Internet. I have a BA in Media Studies from Copenhagen University and now I’m getting an MSc in Game Design and Analysis from the IT University of Copenhagen.
I’m also the Chief Creative Officer of Off Topic Productions LLC, an independent game studio with over 7 years of experience and a dozen developers located throughout North and South America, Britain, and Europe. In March 2009, we released The Nameless Mod for Deus Ex to tremendous critical acclaim, on which I was the lead designer, and we are now working on our first commercial product.
